Change in a Changing World

Change during Change

As the world is changing with this pandemic, so have our jobs, routines, businesses, and roles at home. Change as we know, is hard. Being accommodating, flexible, amenable to change; all great qualities during challenging times for our fellow community, family and co-workers.

Does this make it easy? Does being told to learn new software make it any less foreign? Does being asked to retrain in your company make you feel safe or add to your worry that maybe you can't cut it?

Whatever your reaction - own it and feel it.  Don't be fooled here; this is not a pleasant experience nor is it meant to be. It can feel so hard and so scary and so foreign. That's because it's new. It's supposed to feel like that. Don't fight it; if you're scared, be scared. If you're so angry you could scream, go for a drive and scream.

Trying to suppress the feels doesn't work. It's like pushing a beach ball under the water - you might be able to lay on it for a short period of time but it's going to pop out.

Know this: it will pass. You will make it pass by creating a distraction, connecting with loved ones, and controlling the only things you can like nutrition, exercise and fresh air.

The last thing you may want is more change during change. It's going to happen anyway, so know this: stepping into the unknown is the way through. There is no around. You can do this, as you can do all hard things.
